All professional internet marketing tools serve the same purpose. Physical offline tools should do the same thing that digital online tools do. Generating and driving traffic is the first intention. Second converting traffic into leads, and finally the leads into sales. The final part requires a different set of skills and the first 2. Which comes down to effective communication skills.
The concepts are not new. Offline the only real tool of automation was an answering machine or voicemail. You might think this is a joke but if someone calls a business to get a quote or a price. and no one was available the voice mail will take over. If the caller leaves a message the owner has a lead to work and follow up with when they do become available.
Online the autoresponder is the one and only tool of automation. Anyone who says they're on auto pilot and they don't have an autoresponder they're lying to you. When you create content and publish it or market it you may not get immediate results right away but they could come later. In order to generate traffic, you must have a website to generate or drive traffic to. In order to generate leads you must have a lead capture page and autoresponder. To generate sales, you must have selling skills. The product or service must have and hold value in order for people to justify spending the money on it.
The autoresponder collects the information and then redirects the lead to the thank you page or sales page. If your automated process fails the autoresponder then is responsible for following up. But you have to create the autoresponder series it doesn't do it on it's own.
Unfortunately, too many people buy automated done for your systems and autoresponder programs or all in one tool programs. They hear that term "done for your" and think that all they have to do is buy it and the leads will automatically just show up in the back office or database and they don't have to do nothing. No, if you want to generate leads you have to create content publish it then market it everywhere. That requires work that you have to do yourself. No one else can do it for you but you.
